The 2020 Census is currently underway. The data collected by the census has a huge impact on local communities as it is used to allocate funding and resources to neighborhoods, and it determines the number of seats each state has in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Board members and property managers should encourage their residents to complete their census forms by the deadline. Census representatives are visiting communities to make sure residents who have not filled out their census forms are doing so. Access cannot be denied to a census representative. Restricting access to the property or failing to provide information to a census representative who has shown the proper identification can result in a $500 fine per unit.
